D-1 is a map, one of six map copies found in Oxford University’s Bodleian Library. The maps were used during the Allied invasion of the Normandy beaches on 6th June 1944.
The map copy above was scanned by the library staff in 6 sections, and then “stitched” together by the website editors. Some elements of the map were directly photographed by the editors, which has afforded them better resolution:
