This is Stanley Peckett and his wife, Violet. The photo was taken at a photo studio in Stanley’s home town of Croydon. His brother who was serving in the Royal Artillery had photos taken at the same time. This explains why photos of Stanley show him wearing the same side hat as his brother: we can only assume Stanley had not taken his Royal Signals side hat with him!
This photo was taken at the same time, and colourised.
Stanley’s grave was marked with a temporary wooden cross: his surname was incorrectly spelt, but the service number, 1692499, confirms it is his grave.
