Bob's Photos

Bob’s daughter, Diane, has sent us a collection of her father’s wartime photos: they are excellent quality. To begin with, though, we had no idea where the photos were taken.

However, Diane is nothing if not tenacious! In one of the photos, there is a sign advertising “Hôtel des Dunes”.  With today’s technology, that hotel has now been identified and located.  See below.

Family research has now identified the hotel named in the previous photo. Diane writes > "The Hôtel des Dunes is (or was?), I believe, in Idesbald on the Belgium Coast as is the Excelsior in another photo. I showed Google camera the photo of my Dad and it came up with this result! It fits perfectly with the hotel my Dad is in front of. I also know that he was near Ghent at some point which I found out via a road sign which gave distances between certain towns in another photo."
