AI to the rescue!

As curators of The RAF at Omaha Beach website, the Editors are loath to employ artificial intelligence to enhance any of the wartime photos. However, the above photo seems to have been copied from an existing, framed print – and the photographer taking the photo used flash! The light from the flash appears in the middle of the print. Using AI, the burst of white light has been removed, and it is hoped that the resulting image is more akin to the original.
